MEETING OF DUNDRUM AREA COMMITTEE

22 SEPTEMBER 2008

PEDESTRIAN/CYCLE BRIDGE ON M50 INTERCHANGE

Question: Councillor J. Byrne

"To ask the Manager for an update on the proposed plans to install a

pedestrian/cycle bridge over the M50 near the Sandyford Interchange?"

Reply:

Due to the proximity and interrelationship between the two schemes it is proposed to

progress the preliminary design of this pedestrian bridge with the proposed M50

junction 13 diverge ramp access into Heather Road. Currently a Geometrical

Feasibility Study has been completed for Heather Road. This report has been

submitted to the National Roads Authority for their agreement and approval. Once

this has been received then both schemes will proceed in tandem to the preliminary

design stage.
