For Information to all Residents Associations on No. 47 Bus Route

The proposed changes to No. 47 Bus route mean it will no longer serve Stillorgan Village but will go through Mount Merrion instead. If you are not happy about this please make your views be known to Dublin Bus. The consultation period for this first phase will end on Friday June 18th 2010. All comments received prior to this will be assessed before final changes are decided.

The extended route into the city centre is welcome, however the revised 47 route is experiencing "teething problems" with punctuality, frequency and journey delay because of diversion onto Lr. Trees Road. FYI, this is the response I received from Project Office Network Direct :

"On behalf of Dublin Bus, I would to apologise for the inconvenience that you have experienced using Route 47. Dublin Bus has received feedback and suggestions regarding increased running times and service delays and we are looking at this carefully.

There will be adjustments to Route 47 in the coming weeks to meet customer demand regarding capacity and routing. All changes will be placed on the Dublin Bus website www.dublinbus.ie.

Dublin Bus said that we have 6 weeks to change it, as that is the normal probationary period for any new route. So if you are unhappy with the frequency/punctuality of this revised service, please email them:

FYI, from Monday 24th January 2011, Route 47 will have a revised timetable - check Dublin Bus website for same. Hereunder is extract from Dublin Bus News Centre :

"Route 47 will continue to operate from Belarmine to City Centre (Pearse Street Garda Station) via Sandyford Industrial Estate, Stillorgan Shopping Centre, Old Dublin Road, Stillorgan Road (N11), Nutley Lane, Merrion Road and Mount Street to Pearse Street. Please note a number of daytime journeys will operate via Trees Road Lower, North Avenue and Fosters Avenue to and from the City Centre."
