New 47 bus route
Date: October 06, 2008 08:42PM
Has anyone tried the new 47 bus? Is it any good.

I was going to try it to go into town, but I heard it only goes as far as donnybrook. Can I use a ticket from the 47 to transfer to a 46a (or other bus) to get me to town, or do I have to pay twice?

Thanks,

Mick

Hi there,
Tried the 47 yesterday and it was great. Took the 47 from outside the estate to Belfield (best place to get off) and immediately got a 46a to Parnell Square. Whole journey took 45minutes door to door but you do have to pay two seperate fares - €1.70 and €1.50 respectively. That said it is over €2 for the luas and you would have to walk 30 minutes both sides to achieve my journey and i don't have the time for that. My one gripe is that between 8 and 830am there is no bus!!! I plan to email Dublin Bus about that.

Hi all,
My children are using the 47 to get to and from school each day. It is more frequent than the 44 and more reliable. They find it great. One gets a weekly bus ticket which only costs €6.50 for school children and this allows them unlimited travel, 7 days a week. The others get a weekly bus and Luas costing only €8 per week and again allows unlimited travel on Dublin Bus and the Luas for 7 days. I think is great.

Does anybody know if Dublin Bus's new 'Oyster' card works on the 47 and 46A?
